"Very excellent location - bad kitchen equipment"

This apartment is simply excellent. Spacious, clean, and large. We would have rated it 5 had it not been for the following minusses: bad kitchen equipment (pans, knives, glasses - 150 EUR spent at Ikea would do the job), defect bulbs, and missing dvd remote controller. The minusses are small, but if you pay 200 EUR per day such things have to be in order. On the positive side: excellent location, nice bath rooms, great bars and restaurants (try austrias at the squares towards Palacio Real!), superb shopping possibilities. The apartment is in the middle of the old Madrid. In general, Madrid is a very positive experience. Clean, well organized, lots of police, superb metro, fair value at bars and restaurants, easy going, a lot to see, the Spanish are easy and friendly people. Madrid offers the same as Paris, London, and Berlin. But it is more competitive. Go there!
