Yes, it’s a fabulous location. Fabulous. Probably 200 restaurants withing 15 min walk, Puerta Sol metro about 5 min away. The tremendous feeling of adulation you get when the customers of sidewalk cafes watch you go into your own flat. The apartment is pretty neat. There are 80 steps up to it, but if it didn’t bother us 55-ish folks after a brutal hiking trip, anyone not in a wheelchair can manage. But, there are some buts…
The checkin was functional, but not reassuring. Weren’t quite sure how long we were going to wait with our bags on a busy street. The biggest issue was the condition of the flat. The towels were sitting wet in the washer. There were no flat sheets. We slept with a fitted sheet on the bottom, and a fitted sheet on the top (otherwise, it was the comforter with who knows who’d been in contact with it). Dirty glasses and used ashtrays scattered around. A mop bucket of dirty water in the living room. Had to buy our own TP, because there were only two almost-used rolls left for us.
Would I recommend it? Yes, because it really is a super, super location. Did I feel ill-used because of the condition of the flat? You bet.
That said, checkout was fine, and got the 200 Euro security deposit back on the spot. Also, the Wifi was bulletproof, which I didn’t expect.
