Great location!

This apartment is PERFECTLY located in the center of EVERYTHING in Madrid. It’s located about two steps from the very center of the Gran Vía, and a short walk to Puerta del Sol (maybe 4-5 minutes on foot). Although the subway is a few short steps from the front door, I was able to walk everywhere and almost never took the subway (I bought a 10 trip ticket but only used it four times in two weeks).

The apartment is on a very busy pedestrian street right in the thick of things. The street has the added curiosity of prostitutes, but they won’t bother you at all (try to avoid eye contact), and the street has such a crowd on it all the time, you barely notice that they are there unless you are looking for them. The street and the area are perfectly safe, and there is even a police station right on the street.

The apartment itself is fine. I found it to be as described with the following few details I wish I had known (although I still would have rented it and still would highly recommend it): the air conditioner only cools the living room/ dining room (although it’s very powerful in those rooms). The rest of the apartment (including the bedroom) is separated by a long hallway and does not benefit from the air conditioner. (you can sleep on the sofa bed in the living room if it’s very hot). And “coffee maker” I think is just a bad translation. There is a small expresso coffee POT, but no “coffee MAKER” as this term is used in English. Someone commented that there is no microwave, but there indeed is one, and it works fine. Also, since you are in the center of everyting, if the windows are open, you can’t help but hear some noises from the street (concerts or crowds cheering—especially if Spain wins the Eurocup while you are there), but if you close the windows, the apartment is surpisingly quiet.

Other than that, the apartment is great and felt like home. The building is very clean and well maintained. Having a doorman during weekdays is a plus. The building and apartment are very secure. Rodrigo at check in was helpful and informative. I enjoyed my two-week stay in this apartment and would definitely do it again.
